Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary has announced the names of fifteen candidates for the upcoming BTC elections scheduled in April.
Speaking to the media, Mohilary said the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) is all set to contest the upcoming BTC elections and is confident that it will win again. He added that the candidates were for the elections were selected based on proper assesments.
The candidates are Hagrama Mahilary, Khampa Borgoyary, Daneswar Goyary, Rajib Kr Brahma, Mithunjay Narzary, Ansumwi Khungur, Jagdish Sarkar, Nershwn Boro, Tridip Daimary, Siyam Sundi, Bonzar Daimary, Bijitgwra Narzary, Maheswar Basumatary, Moon Moon Brahma and Lwmsrao Daimary.
The BPF have also decided to revoke Alindra Mushahary’s candidature and Moon Brahma will be given candidature in his place.
Further speaking on the BTR issue, Hagrama said that the BTR is an agreement and till the time there are no amendments brought, the BTR will not come into full force and till then, BTC will remain.

He also claimed that in the BTC elections, he is confident that the BJP-BPF-AGP alliance will win 30 seats. He added, “Our alliance has been going on and it will stay strong. There are some third party which are trying to dilute the facts. Our alliance will form government surely in BTC.”
Earlier Gobinda Basumatary, the leader of the ‘Progressive’ faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) stated that the signing of the tripartite ‘BTR’ agreement between the Bodo organizations and the Government signals an end to the decades-long revolution in the region.
Basumatary said that the demand for a separate state Bodoland has also been put on the backburner as the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) pact more or less fulfills the requirements of the Bodo community. “Under the new peace pact, we have now been granted area extension and more autonomy. For now, the revolution is over.”
