BTC Polls: UPPL confident of winning over 30 Seats

KOKRAJHAR: Although the state election commission is yet to declare the dates of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election, electioneering is underway with dancing, singing, and other activities.

Contesting parties -- including the UPPL, BPF, BJP, AIUDF, and Congress -- are busy campaigning for their respective parties.

On Thursday, the UPPL party carried out a massive rally at Dimalgaon Mazpara under Debargaon constituency in Kokrajhar district where tens of thousands of party supporters and leaders participated.

UPPL chief Pramod Boro and several central leaders attended the rally where UPPL president Pramod Boro was seen dancing to the party's theme song.

Party supporters from six constituencies under Kokrajhar subdivision --Debargaon, Banargaon, Baukhungri, Salakati, Dotma and Fakiragram --constituencies participated in the rally and supported the UPPL party in the ensuing BTC council elections.

In the BTC council election, the UPPL party shall be contesting in all the 40 constituencies with their own candidates.

Talking to reporters, UPPL chief Pramod Boro told that it is a mass rally for 'Parivartan' (change) and the establishment of peace in the BTR area. In the same breath, he accused the former rulers BPF of indulging in corrupt acts which had given a massive setback to the process of development, he said. Boro also accused former BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary for an alleged hand in the corrupt practices.

Exuding confidence, Boro said that the UPPL party shall be winning over 30 seats in the 40 member house. He said that the UPPL party is committed to working for massive change and developments in the region.
