The Garo National Council, Garo Women Council, and Garo Youth Council, Kamrup district staged a massive protest against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act at Santipur village in Lower Assam’s Chaygaon district.
The people of the Garo community descended in the streets of Chaygaon in thousands to participate in the rally led by Garo Jatiya Parishad, Kamrup district president Inindra U Marako.

Staging out a massive protest, the Garo bodies demanded the unconditional release of KMSS chief Akhil Gogoi, Dhaijya Konwar, pro- talks ULFA-I leader Jiten Dutta and all the other members arrested during the CAA protests across the state.
Addressing the gathering, Marako said that it has been seen that the forceful implementation of the C(A)A in the state has led to the situation of unrest in Assam.
The Garo body leaders also mentioned that the implementation of the Act will lead to a serious threat to the language, culture, and identity of the Garo people living in the reason.
The protesters also paid condolence to the C(A)A martyrs of Assam who lost their lives during the police firing.
It is to be mentioned here that the state of Assam has evoked massive protests all across by all the communities living in the state.
