The situation in Assam is turning increasingly volatile by the minute as thousands of anti-CAB protesters have descended on the capital city Dispur.
People from all walks of life -- which includes a large number of student activists -- have reached the Assam Assembly in Dispur to express their disdain for the controversial legislation.

According to reports, the protest is a 'spontaneous' one as the mob heading towards Dispur is not United under a single banner or organization, and consists of common citizens who have refused to sit idly while the Bill becomes law in the power corridors of New Delhi.
Meanwhile, hundreds upon hundreds of student protesters have been seen taking their anti-CAB protest to the doorstep of the power corridors of Dispur. However, they were stopped in their tracks by security personnel, who resorted to tear gas shelling and lathi charges to disperse the students. It has been reported that many girls have also been injured in the assault.
According to reports, many shops along GS Road, considered the commercial hub of the city, have been closed down.
The situation has even turned extremely violent in some pockets of the city, where overzealous protesters have been charged with lathis by security personnel. The personnel have also used tear gas to disperse the angry mobs.
While the protests continue to rock Assam and other parts of the Northeast, the Bill is being discussed at the Rajya Sabha. It was earlier passed by the Lok Sabha with an overwhelming majority of votes in its favour.
