Casting of votes begins for the Mising Autonomous Council elections

Guwahati, January 21, 2019:

The casting of votes has begun for the Mising Autonomous Council (MAC) election. Twenty two polling booths have been set up at Saibsagar’s Disang-Dimow constituency no. 34. The voting process has started from 7 am today.

Along with other autonomous councils in Assam, the Mising Autonomous Council has also held elections today. Ten polling booths were set up at Panidehing, Nitai and Thaura in Dimow circle offices’ Mising villages.

Twelve polling booths have been set up in Sibsagar circle office’s Disangmukh and twelve polling booths have been set up at Amguri circle office’s Dikhowmukh. A good voter turnout has been witnessed in these villages. BJP, Congress, AGP and Sanmilit Ganshakti are the parties participating in the elections.

BJP’s Brishti Panging Mili, Congress’ Renuka Mili, AGP’s Anita Yeyn and Sanmilit Ganshakti’s Niva Pegu are the candidates contesting the elections.

16,000 voters will determine the outcome of the elections in these 22 voting booths. Voters have decided to give priority to candidates over the party in these elections. The voters have also shown interest in electing candidates who will work for the benefit of the Mising community as well as work towards abolishing corrupt practices in the region.
