In continuation of strict legal action against cattle smuggling and other illegal activities, Kokrajhar Police based on reliable information on Friday apprehended a cattle loaded truck (AS01GC/3837) coming from West Bengal, and also arrested the alleged kingpin Munna Saikia, who was traveling in an Innova.
The truck was apprehended in Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district. The truck, along with sixteen cows, was about to be smuggled to Bangladesh via Meghalaya and Assam.

Along with the truck one Innova car (AS01AK/7363) with Arun Lyngdon and Munna Saikia alias Ikram Hussain, self-styled President and General Secretary of All India Livestock Traders and Transporter Association, have been kept in custody.

They were escorting the vehicle from west Bengal side. One Alto car bearing registration number Wb70l/8539 was also apprehended.
Altogether, 10 persons were apprehended in connection with the crime. A case has been registered to Gossaigaon Police Station and further inquiry is on.

Sources also disclosed that the person Munna Saikia was also arrested in December, 2018, at Fasidewa Police Station under Darjeeling District, in connection with cattle smuggling.
