A meeting was held today comprising of largely of BJP allies Atul Bora, leader of the Ason Gana Parishad (AGP), Assam’s largest political party, stated the agenda of the eleven parties after the end of the meeting where the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill was discussed.

“Eleven parties participated in today’s meeting and we have decided to move against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill. We will meet the President and the Prime Minister. Then, we will decide our future course of action”, he stated.

“In Assam, it will violate (the Assam) Accord, it will frustrate updation process of NRC, it will violate Mizo Accord, it will violate Nagaland Accord and the indigenous people will become minorities. It is a threat to the identity of the indigenous people of the Northeast, it is a threat to the identity, it is a threat to the language”, said Bora, discussing the various ills that the passage of the Bill threatens to bring in the state.
