Outgoing Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, who originally hails from Assam, will get Z plus security after his retirement on November 17, reports said. Gogoi is likely to settle in a residence in Guwahati city after retirement.

The Assam police has been tasked with the security arrangements for Gogoi’s ancestral home in Dibrugarh, and also his house in Guwahati.
It may be mentioned here that the Centre had upgraded Gogoi’s security to Z plus ahead of the politically sensitive Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case.

Gogoi had headed the five-member Constitution bench that concluded the hearing of the case on October 16 and delivered the final verdict in the title suit on November 9. This was his last case before retirement which is due on 17th November, 2019.
The other members of the bench were Justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and SA Nazeer and their security cover was upgraded as well.
Ranjan Gogoi is an Indian jurist serving as the 46th and current Chief Justice of India since 3 October 2018. His term as Chief Justice ends on 17 November 2019, with Sharad Arvind Bobde in line to replace him.
On 12 January 2018, CJI Gogoi and three other Supreme Court judges - Jasti Chelameswar, Madan Lokur and Kurian Joseph - became the first to hold a press conference.
They alleged problems plaguing the court, in terms of failure in the justice delivery system and allocation of cases and told journalists that the press conference was prompted by the issue of allocating to Justice Arun Mishra,
