CJI Ranjan Gogoi to Release Assamese Version of 'Courts of India: Past to Present' in Guwahati

Guwahati, November 10, 2019:

Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi will release the Assamese version of the Supreme Court’s book, Courts of India: Past to Present in Guwahati today.

The Assamese version titled Bharatborshor Aadalatshomuh: Otitor Pora Bortomanoloi is a compilation of the history of the courts and judicial institutions in India. The book is a record of the judicial set up from the ancient times till 2016.

The apex court’s publication, Courts of India: Past to Present is a record of the progress of judicial institutions in India. It also presents the law and order procedure in the country.

The Supreme Court had decided to translate the book in regional languages that are mentioned in the eighth schedule of the Constitution. CJI Gogoi will be launching the first regional translation of the Courts of India: Past to Present in Assamese language in Pragjyotish ITA Centre in Guwahati.

Justice Ranjan Gogoi, who will be retiring on November 17, has played a major role in the decade-old Ayodhya land dispute. Four more important judgments are to be reviewed by the CJI before his retirement. It includes the Rafale and Sabarimala cases.
