CM Sarbananda Sonowal’s vehicle attacked by angry mob

Guwahati, February 7, 2019:

Amid high tensions in the state, an official vehicle belonging to Assam CM Sarbanda Sonowal was attacked by an outraged mob after the CM’s vehicle (registration no AS-01DW-7845) accidentally hit a scooter and injured a girl at Chatribari in Guwahati.

The outraged gang smashed the rear windshield of the car and the driver of the vehicle was caught and manhandled. Meanwhile, two other people reportedly in the vehicle managed to escape from the site of the incident.

It may be mentioned that the people of Assam are already frustrated with the BJP led- government decision over the amendment of the Citizenship Act (1955). The CM’s declining popularity was seen at a recent ceremony in Golaghat where less than 100 people had arrived to hear his speech.
