Guwahati, January 12, 2019:

Congress MLA of Jania Abdul Khaleque slammed Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to break his silence over the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and be a man if he can’t be a Jatiya Nayak.

Speaking to InsideNE, Khaleque said, “The people of Assam have lot of expectations on Sarbananda Sonowal so he was given the title of ‘Jatiya Nayak’. He has remained silent all this time. If he cannot be Jatiya Nayak, at least he should not be a coward. He should be a man and take his stand for his own people.”

It may be mentioned that CM Sonowal has been silent on the issue related to the Bill since PM Modi announced of passing the Bill in the Parliament. The people of Assam have been frustrated over the decision and since then the CM has not uttered a single word on it. Following all these, people of Assam have now started to taunt him as “Jatiya Khalanayak”, “Kolongkita Nayak” and a traitor.
