GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has received his first shot of COVID-19 vaccine today at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
Taking the vaccine against COVID-19, the chief minister urged everyone eligible to get vaccinated and continue following safety measures to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Took my first shot of #COVID19 vaccine at GMCH. Vaccines are safe and will help us defeat this pandemic. I urge all eligible persons of the state to get vaccinated and continue following safety precautions,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, in Assam, daily COVID-19 cases more than doubled yesterday, with 195 people testing positive for the virus, up from 92 on Tuesday.
However, the health department said there is no cause of alarm as the total positivity rate in the state is 0.92%.
The state's vaccination target for the next three months is 70 lakh, with an 80,000 daily aim.
