Commissioner of the Barak Valley Division, Dr. Anwaruddin Choudhury held a meeting with electoral registration officers and assistant electoral registration officers in connection with the ongoing Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls and upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Sunday.
In a meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference hall in Hailakandi, Choudhury discussed the section standardization, polling station verification, removal of demographically similar entries, repeated EPIC and flagging off PWD (Persons with Disability) voters in electoral rolls.
The Commissioner also asked the District Election Officer of Hailakandi, Adil Khan, to inform the political parties to appoint booth level agents and to conduct meeting with booth level officers for preparation of error free electoral rolls.
The Election Commission of India has rescheduled the programme of Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls with effect from January 1 2019 as qualifying date with completion of the process of disposal of claims and objections by January 11, updating database and printing of supplements by January 18 and final publication of electoral rolls on January 30.
