GUWAHATI: BJP Assam state president Ranjeet Kr Dass today said there is no word call challenge in the dictionary of his party.

Reacting on the alliance of Congres, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), CPI, CPI(M) and CPI(ML) for the state Assembly elections in March-April, Dass said no alliance can pose any challenge to the BJP. “There were similar alliances in the past as well, but could never pose any challenge to the BJP. A+A+100 means the party’s activities and the government’s success will certainly ensure a minimum of 100 seats for the BJP this time,” he said

He was addressing a reception ceremony at party headquarters here today where about 100 new supporters joined. The new entrants included youth Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) general secretary Somnath Basumatary, vice president Prataya Barman, secretary Debaraj Brahma, organising secretary Martin Basumatary and Manin Roy, president of Tamulpur district youth BPF Mridul Brahma and vice presisent  Chandra Sekhar Rabidas among others.

“Even the conscious minority community voters will also support the BJP this time because of the development the party’s government ushered in over the past few years … The people of Upper Assam will look at the alliance of the Congress and the AIUDF with hatred. I am sure the BJP will win more seats in Upper Assam including Nazira, Mariani, Golaghat, Sarupathar, Titabor, Doomdooma, Nowboicha and Sivasagar,” the BJP leader said.

Alongside the 100 new party workers joining the BJP, 512 more people irrespective caste and community and political party affiliation, including BPF, Gana Surakhshya Party (GSP) etc, joined the BJP at a meeting in Nagrijuli Mandal BJP office.

After the joining programme Tamulpur MLA Emanuel Musahary said: ''The BJP joining spree has been continuing since BTC poll. We have a target 80,000 to join the party. It has already reached 56,000. About 15,000 more will join before the Assembly elections.”
