Assam Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare Pijush Hazarika on Sunday claimed that the Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) pact would prove to be a dangerous pact for the people of Assam. Hazarika stated that former chief minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora and the Congress as a whole have given the opportunity to AIUDF supremo Badaruddin Ajmal to be the kingmaker of politics in the state.
Hazarika however stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would strive to fight for the safeguard the interest of the people of Assam which is in threat by the Congress-AIUDF alliance. Hazarika claimed that the Congress would be wiped out of the state after the ensuing 2021 Assam assembly elections.
Meanwhile, Mariani Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Rupjyoti Kurmi has strongly opposed the pre-poll alliance between the Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF). The firebrand leader also criticized both former chief minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora saying they does not have self confidence.
Kurmi stated that after talking to all the core committee members it has come to the fore that it was not a unanimous decision to forge an alliance with Badruddin Ajmal led AIUDF. Kurmi said that he would keep opposing the Congress-AIUDF alliance.
Kurmi added that he is in favour of forging an alliance with the political party if formed by the All Assam Students’ Union and other regional parties. He also demanded that the Congress should give importance to the representation of the indigenous communities of Assam.
