Guwahati, February 26, 2019:
Congress President Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to launch the Congress party’s Lok Sabha election campaign in the state today. After arriving in Guwahati at approximately 12:30 pm, Gandhi has reached Apollo Hospital in the state and is interacting with patients who are being treated for injuries sustained during the Arunachal Pradesh riots over the PRC issue which have rocked the frontier state since February 22. Gandhi is being accompanied by former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, senior Arunachal Pradesh Congress leader Takam Sanjoy, Assam Congress President Ripun Bora as well as former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat.
Gandhi will also address a crowd of around 1 lakh from different districts of Assam at Veterinary Field in Khanapara from 13:30 pm-15:30 pm. Gandhi will then take part in a NECCC meeting and will interact with North East DCC and BCC Presidents.
The Congress President is expected to discuss a host of pertinent issues including the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.
