Congress releases star campaigners list for Assam Assembly by-polls scheduled for Oct 30

GUWAHATI: The Indian National Congress has released the list of star campaigners for the Assam Assembly by-polls scheduled for October 30, 2021.
The Congress leaders would be campaigning for the upcoming by-elections in Assam as per Section 77 (1) of the Representation of People Act 1951.

By-polls will be held for a total of five constituencies–Gossaigaon, Tamulpur, Bhabanipur, Mariani, and Thowra.
Assam has a total number of 126 constituencies in the legislative assembly.
The by-elections for the vacant Majuli seat, which was left vacant for the AJP, have yet to be scheduled because its representative, Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, resigned from the assembly hours after the Election Commission announced the poll schedule.
The Congress won the Thowra and Mariani assembly seats earlier this year, but the MLAs resigned to join the ruling BJP party.
