HAILAKANDI: The District Development Commissioner, Ranjit Kumar Laskar on Thursday read out the Preamble to the Constitution of India at a programme held in the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner in which officials and employees of Deputy Commissioner's Office and amalgamated offices took the pledge.

The day was celebrated at different government offices, semi government offices, public sector undertakings, corporations and boards across the district.

It may be mentioned that in 2015, the Modi-led NDA Government declared November 26 would be henceforth celebrated as the Constitution Day. Earlier, to commemorate the day on which the Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly in 1949 was known as the National Law Day. The Conference was first held in 1921.

The Day is aimed at reiterating and reorienting the citizens towards the values and principles enshrined in the Constitution and encouraging all Indians to play their rightful role in strengthening the Indian Democracy. It also aims to create awareness of Fundamental Duties as enshrined in the Constitution.
