COVID-19 claims one more life at AMCH; 2 over the last 24 hours

DIBRUGARH: One Rajib Hazarika, 51, an engineer with ONGC passed away due to COVID-19 infection at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) here today.

Another person, Neyim Ahmed of Tinsukia, an advocate by profession, succumbed to the COVID-19 virus at AMCH as well.

Currently, there are as many as 30 COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment at AMCH.

Out of these 30 patients, 17 are being treated at the COVID-19 isolation ward while 13 are being treated at the COVID-19 ICU. 10 among the 13 are on oxygen support and one of them is on ventilation.

Assam recorded 876 fresh cases of COVID-19 and two more casualties due to the infection over the past 24 hours. Kamrup (Metro) remained on the top of the chart with 360 cases followed by Kamrup with 56, Sonitpur 47, and Dibrugarh 42 cases.

Meanwhile, 149 patients were discharged from various hospitals during the day, taking the count of recoveries in the state to 2,16,546. The recovery rate in the state now is 97.26 per cent.

This leaves the state with 4,794 active cases. The death rate stood at 0.50 per cent with 1,129 deaths.
