COVID-19 claims one more life in Assam; 22 test positive in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: One more COVID-19 patient succumbed in Assam, while 19 people in Guwahati railway station and three in Kamakhya temple have tested positive for the virus today.

The deceased has been identified as Jiten Kakaty of No 1 Matia in Narayanpur in Lakhimpur district.

He passed away at Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh.

He was admitted with high diabetes disorder on Saturday where he tested COVID-19 positive.

Over 500 people underwent COVID test at Guwahati railway station.

405 people have been affected in Assam in the last 24 hours.

Among 405, 145 are from Kamarup (M) and 26 are from rural Kamarup.

Meanwhile, despite being the fastest country to administer 100 million vaccination mark in 85 days, India has reported over 1.52 lakh COVID-19 cases today, bringing the country’s total to over 1.33 crore, while 839 new fatalities were reported.
