CYBER DOME AT GUWAHATI AND CYBER POLICE STATION AT POLICE DISTRICT HQ SOON

In fulfilling the promise made in the last year’s budget speech, Assam Police has started the Cyber dome Project to enhance the technical intelligence collection along with Digital Forensics, Big Data Analysis and Cyber Security of the Digital Infrastructure. Assam Police (SB) has signed an MoU with National Technical Research Organization (NTRO), which is a premier central technical intelligence gathering agency, to start a state-of- the-art social media lab and

Training facility which will not just serve the Assam Police personnel but also the Police Personnel from other North Eastern States as well. Assam will be the second state in India after Haryana to have such a facility.

The Assam government also proposes to set up 35 numbers of cyber crime police stations, one each in every police district. The cyber dome at Guwahati will act as the apex cyber crime coordination center for cyber security, cyber forensics, digital data analysis, social media

monitoring and collaborate with the proposed district-level cyber police stations and closely monitor the cyber space. This project will further streamline the digital communication of the police Department with the citizens through the police-public portal and improve the overall service delivery mechanism of Assam Police. Tourism is a great catalyst for social cohesion. To ensure safety of domestic and international tourists, the government also proposes to establish six number of tourist police stations, one each at Kaziranga National Park (Golaghat), Manas National Park (Barpeta), Dibru Saikhowa National Park (Tinsukia), Nameri National Park (Sonitpur), Orang National Park (Rowta), and one tourist police station at Guwahati.

The state government also intends to upgrade the Police Training College at Dergaon to State Police Academy and equip it with a magnificent edifice,modern gadgets and latest modules of training. This project shall be given a much greater push in the financial year 2018-19 and the

government has earmarked a sum of Rs. 6 crore for the same. The Government is in the process of sanctioning 42 number of new Fire & Emergency Services Stations at different places of Assam. The government is also planning to start a Forensic Science Institute in the Directorate of Forensic Science, Assam which is expected to help the younger generation to comprehend the role of Forensic Science in the justice delivery system. Wide ranging training programmes will also be started at the proposed institute for different government officials on

subjects like cyber crime, counterfeit fake currency notes etc. A total amount of Rs. 5584 crore has been earmarked in 2018-19 for the Department.
