Kokrajhar, May 6, 2019:

Cyclone 'Fani' has dealt some serious damage to Kokrajhar district of Assam. The cyclone destroyed many houses in many villages across the district, while many large trees were uprooted from the ground. Moreover, two persons were injured after an uprooted tree fell on top of a house.

Meanwhile, many electricity and telephone poles were damaged. The most damage was reported from areas such as Bilaspur, Mistabari, Kapurgaon, Ullubari, Santipur, Uttarpatgaon, Guwabari, Baganjhora, Athiyabari Tiniali, Paschim Dobargaon, and South Athiyabari.

In South Athiyabari, a tree fell on a house, injuring two persons. They have been identified as Suphal Hasda (50), and Miru Kisku (45). They have been admitted to RNB Hospital in Kokrajhar.

The authorities are taking steps to provide relief to the persons affected by 'Fani' in Kokrajhar.
