Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to visit Assam on June 17

GUWAHATI: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to visit Assam on June 17 for the inauguration of Kimin-potin highway along the border.

During his two day visit, the Defence Minster will head towards Lakhimpur as well apart from carrying out the works in Guwahati.

Singh on Saturday announced a new policy for compilation and classification of war histories and histories of operations under which everything will be officially recorded within five years, and will be handed over to the National Archives.

Under this policy, the histories will be complied within 5 years after the event. Majority of the records will be declassified within 25 years "provide authentic material for academic research and counter the unfounded rumours".
