GUWAHATI: The World Meetei Convention (WMC)'s Assam unit demanded justice for the 32-year-old Manipuri woman ( Meetei Chanu) of Assam who was allegedly gang-raped by three men on the outskirts of Silchar town in South Assam's Cachar district in May this year.

The organisation also urged the Assam government to provide employment opportunities to the rape victim so that she can lead a respectful life.

The heinous incident took place at a remote area under the Ghungoor police outpost of the district when the woman was headed home after work, said police.

The accused has been identified as-- Kanak laal Gwala, Samay Kumar Gwala, and Mahesh Gwala.

The trio was arrested by the police based on a complaint filed by the woman with the Ghungoor police outpost and a case has been registered under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
