104-year-old grandmother set to cast vote in Assam elections

Guwahati, April 6, 2019:

A 104-year-old lady, who has been recognized as the 'most senior citizen' at Moran Santipur under Mahmora Assembly Constituency in Assam's Charaideo district, is all set to cast her vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the country.

The 104-year-old, Lakhi Pal, will be casting her vote on the ensuing Lok Sabha elections for which the District Administration has arranged all the necessities for her to cast her vote. However, Lakhi Pal has said that she has not received any old-age pension, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, gas, cylinder as part of Government schemes. The grandmother is being sustained by her son and daughter-in-law.

Mahmara falls under the Jorhat Lok Sabha Constituency which will head to the polls during the Phase-I of the elections on April 6.
