Detention Camp Death Row: Another 'Declared Foreigner' Dies in Assam

Nalbari, October 25, 2019:

Another declared foreigner has died who was lodged in a detention camp of Goalpara district of Assam.

70- year- old Phalu Das was admitted to Goalpara Hospital on October 11 following his degrading health condition. He passed away after he was brought to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Phalu Das, a resident of Satemari of Nalbari’s Mukalmuwa was lodged in Goalpara’s detention camp from 2017 after he was declared 'foreigner' by the Foreigners’ Tribunal.

Das' family has refused to accept his dead body and alleged that they were not informed about his ailing health condition. The family further alleged that he was declared 'foreigner' despite having all the documents.

The grieving family said that they had managed an advocate by selling of their property yet nothing aided to their misery.
