Dibrugarh girl who learned face painting during lockdown becomes social media star; here's her story

Dibrugarh: A young girl from Assam's Dibrugarh is creating ripples on social media platforms by painting various kinds of unique and innovative on her face. The Dibrugarh girl's innovative face painting art is a skill that she learned during the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

Ankita Debnath hailing from Jyoti Nagar of Dibrugarh district of Assam, has become viral and popular especially among the youths on social media platforms by making paintings on her own face. Although face painting is an up and coming art form, it is still in its nascent stages in Assam, which makes Ankita's initiative all the more appreciable.

Using her leisure time, Ankita used to practice the art daily and slowly became confident enough to begin uploading her content on the social media platforms.

The youngster reveals that she began honing her craft in March of this year. "I had a lot of leisure time during the lockdownm, and I began doing this after getting encouragement. Earlier, I did not have many things to paint my face with, but as time has gone on, I have begun buying more and more materials to practice my craft," Ankita told media persons.

Today, Ankita has also become a sensation in the international arena for her facial arts. Despite having no formal training, Ankita has seemingly become a perfectionist in the art form that she has made her own.

Meanwhile, Ankita has urged the artists of the state who are interested in these unconventional art forms not to dilly-dally. "They should do as they wish and begin practicing these art forms as soon as possible. They should just follow their passion," she said.

Ankita today has not only earned a name and fame for herself but become an inspiration for the youngsters with her extraordinary and exceptional work. Kudos to this youngster from Assam for making the lockdown work in her favour.
