Dima Hasao rail blockade continues for 3rd consecutive day

Dima Hasao, March 9, 2019:

The rail blockade staged by Indigenous Students’ Forum (ISF) and Indigenous Women Forum (IWF) in Dima Hasao demanding ‘immediate payment of B.G line conversion affected compensation’ has continued for the third consecutive day.

The protestors mentioned that the blockade will continue until railways release the compensation amount they have promised them.

ISF president, David Keivom said, "We have received a letter from DRM Lumding inviting us for a final discussion with General Manager (Construction) NF Railway to be held on 11th March 2019 at 3.30 pm. It is enough; we will not fall in the trap of railway delaying tactics again as they know only how to give assurances and never care about implementing their promise. What else can be expected by attending the meeting called by the railway? They don’t even care about Chief Secretary, Government of Assam orders. We have lost confidence in railway and have confidence in the State Government only. So, we would like to remind the Railway Authorities that we have had enough meetings, we have lost confidence in the railway.”

The ISF president also mentioned that they will continue their peaceful protest until the Railways release their rightful compensation which they have been promised.
