GUWAHATI: Amid the surge in COVID-19 cases in Guwahati, the Kamrup (M) district administration has decided to impose a fine of Rs 1000 for not wearing a mask at Bihu functions.
The Kamrup (M) district administration issued an order to this effect after a meeting with the Bihu committees of the city earlier in the day.
On the other hand, thermal scanning of visitors at the entry gate of all Bihu functions has been made mandatory.

The district administration has asked the police to keep strict vigilance at all Bihu functions in the city and register cases under section 188 of the IPC and other provisions of Disaster Management ACT 2005, against anyone found to be violating the SOP issued by the state government.
On Friday, Kamrup (M) continued to be the worst affected district in the state with 245 COVID-19 positive cases and one death.
