Former Assam minister Dr. Hemaprova Saikia has resigned from the highest policy-making body of the Indian National Congress Steering Committee. In a letter addressed to All India Congress Committee President Rahul Gandhi, the veteran Congress leader wrote that old must make way for the new when proper time comes. Therefore, she is resigning as a member of the Steering Committee to make room for induction of younger leaders. She however mentioned that she will continue serving the party to the best of her ability.
