GUWAHATI: According to latest inputs, dreaded United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) insurgent Drishti Rajkhowa is in Assam Police custody. This is expected to be a major setback to the militant organization as Rajkhowa is a close confidante of ULFA leader Paresh Baruah. According to reports, the insurgent leader has surrendered as his wife is suffering from cancer.
According to reports carried in the media way back in 2018, Rajkhowa frequently shuttled between Garo hills in Meghalaya and Bangladesh. That he is was active in Garo Hills was apparently proved when GNLA requested him to take over the charge of the outfit after its C-in-C Sohan D Shira was killed in an encounter with Meghalaya Police.

Drishti Rajkhowa alias Manoj Rabha was the Commander of the 109 battalion of ULFA until 2011, the banned outlawed group of Assam. He is said to be one of the close confidantes of the group's C-in-C Paresh Baruah and an RPG expert. He is also a central committee member of the group.
This comes amid reports that United Liberation Front of Axom (Independent) Commander-in-Chief Paresh Baruah’s nephew Rupak Axom (Munna Baruah), who went missing in the jungles of Myanmar, has reportedly died. However, his uncle has said that Rupak is not dead yet and is simply “missing.”
Rupak Axom had joined the militant outfit in 2018. His father, Bimal Baruah, is the brother of Paresh Baruah.
