Guwahati, April 22, 2019:

As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, all the candidates who have criminal cases registered against them must self announce their criminal records through media, so InsideNE tried to find out whether all candidates with cases registered against them followed the rules.

It remains to be seen whether the candidates 'advertised' their crimes through media, but CEO Mukesh Sahu has said that the Commission is keeping close watch.

Speaking to InsideNE, Sahu said, “We will be collecting the reports after the elections are over and will report to the Election Commission.”

As regards to those who did not follow the guidelines, he said that "the reports will be submitted to the Election Commission and the decision will be taken accordingly after the elections are over.”
