The democracy of the common people of the nation is at stake. Recent scenarios in the state mark the increasing dictatorship and decreasing democratic rights of the citizens.
In an incident in Delhi, reports of eight people being arrested came to light. The names of the eight people who were arrested are Rubul Das, Hiranya Pathari, Debojani Nath, Kamala Kanta Das, Jadav Das, Prag Jyotis Bonia and Bishnu Hazarika. They have been recognized as representatives of 70 organizations from Assam and were arrested for protesting against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
According to reports, they were apprehended at Mayur Assam, a hotel in Paharganj on Friday, 25th Jan at around 9.30 pm. The protest that they attended was held on January 25 in New Delhi.
The police swarmed the hotel when no whereabouts of the accused were found until Saturday afternoon.
