Kokrajhar, April 8, 2019:
The race for the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha throne is headed towards a mouth-watering finish as no favorites have emerged as of yet. Meanwhile, Pramod Boro, President of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) finds himself in the midst of the political struggle as a top ‘influencer’ ahead of the elections. Boro, who is widely respected in the BTC area, has thrown his support behind UPPL’s Urkhao Gwra Brahma and BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary himself believes that the student union will be the BPF's biggest challenge in the ensuing elections.
Addressing the media here today, Bodo appealed to the Election Commission to ensure that money and muscle power does not decide the election. “Huge sums of money have been recovered in some areas, which is rather unfortunate. Thus, I appeal that the Election Commission to ensure that no one is influence common people with money or muscle power. Moreover, people who seek to trample on our democracy should be prohibited from doing so.”
Bro expressed hope that all communities will vote in favor of Brahma and said that the people will not vote in blocs but rather, for the ABSU’s preferred candidate Brahma as both BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary and Kokrajhar MP Naba Sarania both have only two issues: “Bodoland’ and ‘non-Bodos’.
