BOKAKHAT: Amid rapid increase in COVID-19 cases throughout the state, the Assam forest department today ordered closure of elephant safari for visitors in Kaziranga National Park, from April 30.
With this, elephant safari will remain closed for the tourist season 2020-2021.
Earlier on April 17, the park authorities had directed all incoming tourists from other states, to mandatorily undergo Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) for COVID-19 or produce COVID-19 negative report, tested 72 hours prior to their arrival.

The park authorities had resumed it’s much-awaited elephant safaris on November 2 last year, a few days after the famed park was thrown open to tourists.
The park authorities had initially allowed booking for 37 seats only, following COVID-19 protocols.
