KOKRAJHAR: Former All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) general secretary Lawrence Islary has filed nomination for the 30th Kokrajhar East (Tribal Protected) Assembly constituency on a United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) ticket today for the Assam assembly elections.
He filed his nomination papers in the returning officer at the district deputy commissioner's office after gathering thousands of supporters from the green field in Kokrajhar town.
According to reports, Islary said that Pramila Rani Brahma, who has been a legislator and minister for the last 30 years, has not given any importance to the development of the community and has not solved any of the burning issues of the public.

Moreover, expressing confidence in victory against Pramila Rani Brahma, he stated that his main goal is to build harmony, peace, and security in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR)
It may be mentioned here that the election campaign of the 30th Kokrajhar East (Tribal Protected) Assembly constituency has become very interesting as this time Lawrence Islary is contesting against heavyweight Pramila Rani Brahma.
