Guwahati, October 31, 2018:

A social media post, which says the devil (Satan) is at the altar of the temple of judiciary, has evoked mixed reactions.

The obvious reference was to the Supreme Court after it had rejected a PIL against the alleged harassment of D (doubtful) voters in Assam.

The comment was posted on Facebook by one Mahananda, who introduced himself as the president of All Assam Bengali Youth Students’ Federation.

Some users of the social networking site said Mahananda’s remark was an insult towards the judges. However, there were others who supported him saying something was wrong with the judiciary system in the country.

Congress MLA Abdul Khaleque also reacted. “It takes time to get justice. Drupadi too got justice after a long time,” he posted.

Mahananda did not name any judge in his post. Those backing him said the apex court should have admitted the PIL.
