Fake notes worth 2 crores nabbed in Assam, two apprehended

Guwahati, March 4, 2019:

Jagiroad police on Monday nabbed two men for possession of fake currency. Based on inputs, a team of Jagiroad police raided a room in Dighalbari village and seized counterfeit notes of Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 denominations worth Rs 2 crore along with a fake currency making-machine.

The prime accused has been identified as Ripon Chandra Manta, and his associate is a certain Habibur Rahman.

According to official reports, the raid was carried out on receiving inputs that a gang from Lakhimpur was making claims of doubling peoples’ money.
