Five auditors arrested for graft in Charaideo

Guwahati (Assam), September 20, 2018:

Five auditors have been arrested by the Assam Police for allegedly seeking bribe while probing financial irregularities in various village panchayats of Charaideo.

The officials arrested were from the office of Auditor General (AG) in Guwahati. They have been identified as Rafiquddin Ahmed, Saikat Bhattacharya, Hem Bahadur, Subrat Duwarah and Jugal Kishore Tamuli. The police have also arrested one Surajit Pal who is a panchayat secretary for assisting them in the whole incident. The police recovered Rs.3,34 lakh from their possession which is suspected to be the bribe money.

The accused persons were apprehended from a hotel in Sonari.
