Guwahati, September 14, 2019:

The Morigaon Police have arrested three Assam Police personnel and two home guards for allegedly threatening and looting two men near Dharamtul in Morigaon on Friday night.

Morigaon Superintendent of Police, Swapnaneel Deka said that on Friday night two persons namely Kalim Uddin from Hojai and Altab Hussain of Karimganj came to Morigaon for procuring a secondhand vehicle but were unable to contact the owner, both of them decided to stay in Morigaon for the night. While they were crossing Morigaon, they were asked to stop by a team of five policemen but the persons did not stop.

There were then chased down by the policemen but the issue happened there. The policemen actually intercepted them and then they (police personnel) allegedly "robbed" them of ₹ 3 lakh 89 thousand.

On getting the information about the incident, the Morigaon Police acting promptly arrested all the personnel.

Deka informed that the personnel were identified as Dulal Pator, Debjit Bhuyan, Rituraj Saikia, Kamal Dekaraja and Biswajit Das.

Dulal, Debjit and Rituraj have been suspended while Kamal and Biswajit were dismissed.
