The health condition of former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi has been stated to be stable. Gogoi is being treated for COVID-19 at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).
“Gogoi is doing well. His oxygen saturation is around 92-94 per cent. He is completely stable and asymptomatic,” said Dr.Abhijit Sarma, superintendent of GMCH.
It may be mentioned that Gogoi’s health suddenly deteriorated on August 31 night. State Health & Family Welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed through tweeter that the has been a sudden fall in Tarun Gogoi’s oxygen saturation to 88 percent. Sarma tweeted that a team of doctors had supervised his health immediately and gave one unit of plasma with two litres of oxygen. Soonr Gogoi’s saturation shot in between 96 to 97%.

Sarma immediately rushed to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) to monitor Gogoi’s health and also had a telephonic conversation with his son Gaurav Gogoi. Gogoi’s health is now stable and is under treatment at the private ward of GMCH. Earlier, Gogoi in a tweet said that he was recovering well and also thanked the health minister for his visit to take stock of his health.
It needs mention that the octogenarian congress leader Tarun Gogoi had tested COVID-19 positive on August 25. Taking to his Twitter Gogoi wrote, “I have been tested Covid 19 positive yesterday. People who came in contact with me during Last few days they should go for Covid test immediately”.
Gogoi who was busy meeting congress and other political party leaderswas reportedly unwell for a few days. He and his wife Dolly Gogoi underwent COVID test after former minister Ajanta Neog tested COVID-19 positive on Tuesday. Gogoi had reportedly met Ajanta Neog a day before. After the tests, Tarun Gogoi tested COVID positive. However, his wife Dolly Gogoi tested negative. Though Gogoi was at home isolation initially, he was later shifted to the GMCH for better treatment.
