GUWAHATI: Former Assam Inspector General Police (IGP) Anurag Tankha passed away on Monday after a prolonged battle with cancer.
Taking to Twitter, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma condoled the death of the1995 batch of IPS and a IIT-Delhi alumnus.

"I’m deeply saddened by the demise of distinguished senior IPS officer Anurag Tankha (Assam cadre) after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was on deputation to Bureau of Police Research and Development as IG. My prayers for his moksha and condolences to his family members". said the Chief Minister.
Tankha was last posted in Delhi. He was serving in Assam for a period of around 19 years.
