Fuel prices again saw a surge on Thursday, a day after it remaining unchanged. In Guwahati, the petrol price increased by up to 15 paise to cost Rs 86.50 per litre whereas, the diesel price rose by 21 paise to cost Rs 78.91 per litre.
Fuel prices have been witnessing a steep rise since the past few months. Though Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the hike in the prices of petrol and diesel in the country was because of the depreciation in the value of the Indian Rupee against the US dollar, the common man is not willing to buy this
fact.
Speaking to InsideNe, Bikram Dutta, a businessman, said, “The steep rise in fuel prices has affected my business to a huge extent. As my business depends a lot on transportation, escalating fuel prices have made me incur losses”.
Abhijeet Banerjee, a school teacher said “petrol prices have affected my monthly budget. As my school is at a distance from my residence, it has become difficult for me to ride my motorcycle. I am planning to buy a bicycle soon”.
