Gauhati HC Orders State Govt to Resume Internet Services Today

Guwahati, December 17, 2019:

The Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court on Tuesday has ordered the Assam government to resume the internet services from today onwards. The directive was given after the hearing of a PIL filed against the suspension of internet services in the state.

The internet services in Assam has been suspended for six days. However, broadband services were resumed from 10 am on Tuesday.

As many as three advocates had filed the PIL against the suspension of the internet services in Assam, reports said.

According to reports, the chief justice of the court after hearing the PIL has asked the state government to resume the internet service within 3 pm today. The order further stated that the state government should fix the time of resuming of internet services in the state as soon as possible. The HC order further dictates that the state government should find a way to maintain the services to ensure the smooth flow of life in the State.
