GMCH to serve Patients in Double Shifts

Assam's Health Minister Keshab Mahanta has announced that health facilities at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) will now run in two shifts enabling better facilities for the patients.

Guwahati: Assam's Health Minister Keshab Mahanta has announced that health facilities at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) will now run in two shifts enabling better facilities for the patients.

Speaking to the media, Mahanta said that from Monday onwards, the operation theatre and other such services will start in two shifts enabling medical facilities for more patients and more efficiently. The second shift in the hospital would operate till 10 PM from Monday onwards.

Mahanta added that earlier certain departments were only operating till 3 PM but now these departments will operate till 10 PM. He added that the number of MRI and CT Scan systems will also operate in double shifts. These steps will double the number of patient handling per day.

He also added that the GMCH has also targeted to take the number of X-rays to thousand patients from the existing 500 patient number.

He added that sample collection centres in the hospital will also be increased from January 2022.

In order to make the services more efficient, the hospital will also employee more contractual employees.
