Gold worth Rs 43 lakh nabbed in Guwahati Railway Station

Guwahati, April 28, 2019:

In the early hours of the morning at 7.45 am on Sunday, the train checking party of Guwahati GPRS led by ASI S.K. Singh recovered 8 pieces of suspected gold biscuits from the possession of Mohammad Harish Mahmood (51), who is an original resident of Kanur in Kerala.

He was nabbed from coach no. B-3 seat no. 11 of the Down Kamrup express train standing at platform no. 1 at Guwahati Railway Station. Total weight of the recovered gold biscuits is 1.3 kilos. The apprehended was coming from Dimapur and was headed to Kolkata. The approximate value of the nabbed gold biscuits is Rs forty-three lakhs.

Steps are being taken to hand over the seized item to the Customs department along with the person.
