Grenade blast in Assam's Tinsukia district; 1 killed 3 injured

DIGBOI: Just after a grenade blast in Assam's Tinsukia killed a 12-year-old boy three days ago, another grenade blast has been reported from the same district this noon.

One person has been killed in the explosion while two others were severely injured.

According to the information received from the dwindling site, the grenade blast took place around 1 pm this afternoon when a customer came to pick up a socket in the electrical hardware shop located at Tingrai under Digboi police station (PS) in the district.

The shop was owned by a person named Puran Agarwala.

The injured were rushed to Digboi Civil Hospital immediately, while Sandeep Singh (25) had died and others three persons --Manjit Das (19) son of Manik Das, Saranjit Talukdar (22) son of Nirud Talukdar, and Ghanshyam Agarwal (32) son of Mangiram Agarwal were seriously injured.

The attack is suspected to have been carried out by ULFA-I.

Army and police officials rushed to the spot and, the area has been cordoned off by the army and police.

Police said investigation on the matter is underway.
