Guwahati, October 13, 2018:

Proscribed militant outfit United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA-I) has claimed responsibility for the bomb blast which took place at MG Road in Guwahati.

Paresh Baruah, the outfit’s self-styled “Commander-in-Chief” told a local news channel the bomb was triggered as a warning to those who are "conspiring" to grant citizenship to Bengali immigrants of Bangladesh in Assam.

“We are saddened that some people were injured in the blast but our stand is clear. We will not let any illegal migrant to live in Assam. We stand against those people and organisations which are trying to settle the illegal immigrants in Assam and opposing the NRC,” he said.

He wished for the speedy recovery of the four injured people.

Director General of Police, Kuladhar Saikia said, “We are trying to find out the kind of explosives that were used and if they (ULFA-I) triggered it by themselves or outsourced somebody”.
