Guwahati boat mishap: Body of man recovered

Guwahati (Assam), September 7, 2018:

A man, who had been missing since the mechanized boat mishap in north Guwahati, was found dead near Sualkuchi’s Siyalmari on Friday.

Speaking to InsideNE, Kamrup (Rural) Deputy Commissioner Kamal Baishya said, “Following the incident, the body of another person was recovered from Siyalmari. He has been identified as one Rahul Ali.”

Ali was an employee of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), according to identity documents found on him.

Baishya added that another person was missing and search operations were on.

It may be mentioned that the boat had sunk in the Brahmaputra on Wednesday after hitting a concrete structure of an upcoming water project. Most passengers had managed to swim to safety but two Class XI girls of Cotton University died.
