Guwahati police imposing fine on people for flouting COVID-19 norms

Guwahati police are imposing fines on people who are flouting COVID-19 norms and are found not wearing masks.The police have two patrol parties and have put up check-posts. Anyone found without a mask in public places is fined Rs 500.

Assam on Sunday reported 1,573 fresh COVID-19 cases which took the tally to 1,25,459. Among the new cases, 382 are from Guwahati.

“Alert ~ 1537 #COVID cases detected today out of 23336 tests done in last 24 hours Positivity Rate- 6.58% Kamrup M- 382; Hojai- 125; Dibrugarh- 108,” health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

Meanwhile, 8 patients succumbed to the infection in the state. The death toll now stands at 360.On the other hand, 1,763 more patients were discharged from different hospitals and COVID-19 care centres after they had recovered from the virus.So far, total 96,823 patients have recovered in the state.
